Methods
These are the methods I am most influenced by in my practice, though I draw from other practices. I am dedicated to seeing the individual in front of me and working with our combined humanity to utilize a nuanced combination of methods, in conjunctionwith the unique chemistry that arises in our collaborative process.
Somatic Experiencing (SE)
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-oriented therapy developed by Dr. Peter Levine to help people process and heal from trauma. It is based on the idea that trauma is held in the body, not just the mind, and that healing involves gently releasing this stored energy.

Key principles include:
-
Tracking bodily sensations to access trauma
-
Slow, titrated approach to avoid overwhelm
-
Completing interrupted fight, flight, or freeze responses
-
Building capacity for regulation and resilience

SE helps clients restore a sense of safety and balance by working with physical sensations and nervous system responses.
Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt Therapy is a humanistic, experiential form of psychotherapy that emphasizes awareness, personal responsibility, and living in the present moment. Developed by Fritz Perls in the 1940s and 1950s, it focuses on helping clients become aware of their thoughts, feelings, and actions in the here and now.

Key principles include:
-
Here and now awareness
-
The whole person (mind, body, emotions, and environment)
-
Personal responsibility for choices and behavior
-
Dialogic relationship between therapist and client
-
Creative experiments (like role-play or empty chair technique)
Gestalt Therapy aims to support clients in integrating fragmented parts of the self and fostering authentic contact with themselves and others.
